Manly Beach, Sydney - 8 November 2026

DETAILS

Manly Together is a fun, family-friendly, community-driven walk and fundraiser bringing people together to raise awareness around men's mental health, break down stigma, educate and help prevent suicide. We want to show that it's okay to open up, speak honestly about feelings, and have the conversations we don't always feel comfortable having. Together, we can change mindsets, look out for one another, and be reminded that we don't have to face things alone. Walk. Talk. Listen. Connect. Make a difference, alongside your mates.

Meet Troy

I’m a dedicated advocate for men’s mental health, but this isn’t just something I believe in, it’s personal. I know what it’s like to struggle in silence, to put on a brave face, and convince yourself you’re fine when you’re not. For years, I bottled everything up until I eventually hit breaking point. At 30, I had a mental breakdown that led to severe anxiety and depression. I barely left the house, and at times, just getting through the day felt impossible. I lost myself completely. Thankfully, my mum never gave up on me. Her support helped me slowly find my way back, and after 1 year of therapy I was taught how important it is to talk and not carry everything alone. But in December 2024, my world changed again. I lost my older brother to suicide. He wasn’t just my brother, he was a protector, a guide, someone who shaped so much of who I am. And now I have to live with the reality that he’s no longer here. I can’t help but think about what might have been different if he had one honest conversation. One moment where he felt able to say, “I’m not okay.” I know I can’t change what happened, but I live with the questions every day. I miss him every day. And I would give anything for one more conversation, one more laugh, one more day together. That’s why I’m doing this. Because behind every suicide is a person, a brother, a son, a dad, a mate, someone who mattered deeply. This fundraiser is about starting conversations. It’s about breaking the stigma that stops men from speaking up. And it’s about reminding people that opening up isn’t weakness, it’s strength. If this event helps even one person talk, reach out, or check in on someone else, then it will have been worth it. I started this because of my own struggles. I continue it because of my brother. And I will keep speaking about it so no other family has to go through what mine has.

Meet Amanda

Amanda is passionate about human connection and bringing people together. She believes deeply in the power of a strong community where people feel safe, seen and supported.
Surrounded by many male friends and family members throughout her life, Amanda has always noticed how differently personal struggles can show up for men and women, and how different their needs can be. One of the hardest days of her life came when she did not know how to support one of her closest friends when he needed her most. He never harmed himself, but the feeling of helplessness was devastating. With several close friends who have lost loved ones to suicide, she has witnessed how devastating that loss can be. This, along with watching her loved ones struggle with their mental health, is exactly why she is driven to raise awareness and continue learning how to better support the people she loves.
Professionally, Amanda is a Project Manager and a Marketing and Public Relations Strategist. Her experience spans the lifestyle, health and wellness industries. She has also managed projects for a men’s mental health focused brand and continues to support community projects involving an Aboriginal led community crisis service. Her ability to turn ideas into meaningful projects that bring people together, create genuine connections and inspire positive change is exactly what she brings to Manly Together.
When Troy invited Amanda to be part of Manly Together, she felt deeply honoured by the opportunity to work alongside him to bring his story and the vision for the project to life. The chance to help shift the narrative that vulnerability is not weakness, but a sign of incredible strength, create a safe space, and remind men who are struggling that there is another way forward and that there are people who care and want to support them as they find their way back to hope, peace and joy in life is exactly what makes her so passionate about Manly Together.
