Meet Your Walk Leaders

Paul, Matt & Scott

Spoke to a Bloke began after we lost our brother Nick in 2021.  After losing Nick, we walked to honour him. 120 men joined and right there we knew we could continue to make an impact.

Born from grief, but built on mateship, we’re driven to change the way we talk about - and show up for - men’s mental health.  Through Walk for a Bloke we are proud to be building resilience through movement and conversation and we couldn't do it without you, so thank you for joining us.

THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS

Absolutely!  If you are attending an organised location, we welcome everyone on the day.   If you are walking on your own there will be an opportunity for you to make yourself known to our walk leaders or volunteers and buddy up with other solo walkers if you wish.

For our walk anywhere option, please reach out to a friend, and enjoy a day of great conversations and checking in on each other wherever your 25km walk may take you.

WHAT IF 25KM IS TOO MUCH FOR ME ON THE DAY?

All walkers have the option of ending their walk at any time they feel necessary along the course.  We encourage you to join us at the end venue to continue conversations and share in achievements together.  If you do decide to exit the course, please ensure you let a volunteer or event lead know.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

add remove

We started Spoke to a Bloke after losing our brother and best mate to suicide. As a team, we work on the charity weekends and after hours, we are passionate about making a real impact. 100% of funds raised goes directly to running the charity, our events and projects to support blokes mental health.

For more information on the impact you are a part of, please visit our projects.

WHY IS THE WALK JUST FOR BLOKES?

add remove

Walk for a Bloke is a unique event for blokes to come together and walk 25kms to raise awareness and funds for bloke’s mental health.

It also serves as medicine, enabling blokes to be active, to connect, listen, learn and to share in the walk and build resilience through action.  We recognise wives, girlfriends, sisters, mothers and mates play an important role in blokes' lives.  Family, friends and supporters are welcome to volunteer on the day or to meet you at the end of the walk to celebrate your achievements.  To  volunteer please contact cassie@spoketoabloke.org.

WHY DOES THE WALK FINISH AT HOTELS, PUBS AND CLUBS?

add remove
The feedback we have had is blokes want to get together and celebrate completing the walk. We encourage blokes to take the opportunity to continue conversations they started on the walk and share in their achievement of completing the walk together.

OUR ALCOHOL POLICY

add remove

We recognise that alcohol can be a contributing factor to mental health challenges among blokes. As such, the event does not promote or encourage the consumption of alcohol, and alcohol is not included in the price of the entry ticket.

We respect the personal choices of each participant regarding alcohol consumption. At each end venue, lunch will be available for purchase at own arrangements, and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at the discretion of the attendee.

Alcohol service will be managed by the venue in accordance with responsible service guidelines to ensure consumption is safe and appropriate.
