Walk for a Bloke London

What is Walk for a Bloke

Walk for a Bloke is more than just a 25km challenge. It’s a day for blokes to step up, walk side by side, and make a real difference for men’s mental health.

This is your chance to reconnect with old mates, meet new ones, and be part of something bigger - a movement that gets blokes talking, walking, and supporting one another.

Whether you walk solo, rally your mates into a team, or get your whole workplace involved, every step you take helps change the story for men’s mental health.

Just a few stats to start:
  • 2024 Total (Registered): In the last full calendar year of data, there were 7,147 registered suicides in the UK. Of these, approximately 5,300 to 5,500 were men, continuing the trend of a male suicide rate roughly three times higher than the female rate.
  • Most Recent 12-Month Trend (England Only): Based on the Near to Real-Time Suspected Suicide Surveillance (nRTSSS), there were 6,314 suspected male suicides in England between October 2023 and October 2025 (a 24-month period). This averages to roughly 263 male deaths per month, or approximately 3,150 per year in England alone. * Monthly Snapshot (October 2025): In October 2025, there were 195 suspected male suicides in England, representing 77.1% of all suicides that month.
These numbers make alarming reading, and you probably find them as distressing as I do. Over the years I've had numerous conversations with counsellors and completed questions where the question is asked, "have you ever thought about taking your own life/harming yourself", and I'm thankful that I've never been in that place.

That doesn't mean that I've not been in a low place or depressed, because believe me I have, but rather there have been men in my life that I've been blessed to be able to call up or message, and chat through whatever's doing my head in, often over a burger and pint!

Guys like my mate Gary who I'm walking with on Saturday, afford me the time and space to get things off my chest, share my anxieties and generally just 'be real' with and I know I do the same for him.

In a blog at work for Men's health week last year that every bloke needs a Gary (or Jim, Steve or Dave - fill in the blanks...) if not today, then maybe tomorrow, next week or next year, who knows? I say, find yourself a Gary or two; you never know when you might need him, or he you🙏🏾
