What is Walk for a Bloke
Previously known as Nicks Walk, Walk for a Bloke is a unique event for blokes to come together and walk 25kms to raise awareness and funds for bloke’s mental health.
Walk for a Bloke is more than just a fundraiser – it can act as a form of medicine. By encouraging physical activity, creating opportunities for mateship, and providing a safe space for men to share, listen, and learn, we help build resilience and strengthen mental well-being through action.

Chronic Pain and not knowing what is happening
Wednesday 11th DecAll those who know me are familiar with my story. I was once a cheerful and carefree individual, always ready to share a laugh and support anyone in need.
However, a freak accident resulted in a severe spinal injury. Despite undergoing several operations, there was no definitive diagnosis or clear path forward.
The uncertainty and lack of a treatment plan were incredibly frustrating. As an engineer, I believed that a simple reprogramming or replacement of parts would suffice. Unfortunately, the doctors struggled for years to find answers, which took a significant toll on my mental health and that of my family. I recall feeling extremely despondent and in desperate need of answers, to the point where I had planned to end my life.
Fortunately, I discovered an outlet through some acquaintances. It is not difficult to speak, and the more I communicated, the better I felt. Knowing that many people were supporting me was immensely comforting. Although there were a few skeptics who doubted my condition, my friends and I knew the truth.
These friends helped me articulate my experiences. By discussing my situation, I was able to break it down into manageable parts and find the right people and actions to take.
Through modern medicine, perseverance, and a relentless effort, I have returned to working full-time, being a devoted father and husband, and, most importantly, regaining my sense of humor.
Engaging with like-minded individuals allowed me to make the most of my new life. I am deeply grateful to those who supported me. None of them are medical professionals; they are ordinary people like you, who simply want to help others. They listened without judgment and provided me with hope. They were, and continue to be, my lifeline. By sharing my struggles over time, I was able to alleviate the issues I faced. Although the challenges still arise, I manage them by focusing on what I can do, rather than what I cannot.
I have come a long way, and I am always ready to listen to your story and support you through your journey. We are all unique, yet we all carry some burdens that need to be addressed.
I invite you to join me for part or all of this journey. If you cannot, and need someone to talk to, I am here to listen and help. I would rather spend my life assisting you than attending a service mourning a life cut short.
