Walk Anywhere

What is Walk for a Bloke

Walk for a Bloke is more than just a 25km challenge. It’s a day for blokes to step up, walk side by side, and make a real difference for men’s mental health.

This is your chance to reconnect with old mates, meet new ones, and be part of something bigger - a movement that gets blokes talking, walking, and supporting one another.

Whether you walk solo, rally your mates into a team, or get your whole workplace involved, every step you take helps change the story for men’s mental health.

The Plan

Friday 13th Mar
I will be walking 25km next weekend, Saturday the 21st for WALK FOR A BLOKE.
They have some big walks on in Auckland and Wellington, and if your in those areas please consider joining. https://www.spoketoabloke.org/
A bit far to travel for me though, so I will be walking the lovely Taupo Lakefront.
Happy for anyone to Join me for any length of time. If your keen on a challenge though (Guilty) and you want to get some endurance training in for time on feet. Please consider joining Team Taupo. https://give.spoketoabloke.org/.../walk-for-a-bloke-anywhere
Otherwise please consider a donation. $2 would be ideal, which is the average number New Zealand men who end life's struggle each day.
The Plan: Walk starting at 8am from 2Mile Bay walking with parkrun, as this is also a great group/movement/activity to help mens mental health.
We will walk 5km (2.5km out, and 2.5km back until we arrive Two Mile Bay Sailing Club around 9am. Then we will walk 5km (2.5km towards town and 2.5km back) to arrive at 2mile again for 10am. Repeating on the hour, Each hour until Noon. Hopefully finishing at 1pm for Lunch (beers and pizza). Though I will walk at a walking pace for anyone to participate. This is not a speed trial, its endurance, mental health training.
As we will be passing 2 mile repeatedly anyone who wants to meet up a bit later can catch us there for any of the 5 hours that suits your schedule. 8-9, 9-10, 10-11, 11-12, or 12-1.
What to do on the walk? Bring snacks, Music, pets, costumes, whatever gives you motivation to keep moving. Liquids and food is recommended for a 5 hours walk. There are also water fountains on the route.

Reasons why

Tuesday 10th Mar
We all have our reasons for why we do things. For me there are specific personal reasons on the timing. And more generally getting fed up with feeling like there was nothing I could do to prevent friends from giving up.

The disappointment, feeling inevitability, frustration, sadness, and complete lack of surprise when you get the news about another humans game over.

I like to run though, and so I must be able to walk for 5 hours easy enough.

Moving your body is the easiest way to improve your mood, so I hope to get others to move with me.

Ideally I can get 5 different people to walk with me for the 5 different loops of the lakefront.
